I had the delight of taking Carlyle to her book club this week. It’s in a very nice part of Edmonton with some very old trees lining the streets of find old homes. While I was waiting for Carlyle I took a few pictures in the neighbourhood. This was a good thing!

We’re getting ready in Edmonton to NOT change our clocks. It’s going to dark longer in the morning hours. By the way, our lovely Premier has made this decision to remain on daylight savings time after she put forward a vote on this (as part of the general election) and it was soundly defeated. But she’s doing it anyway. That’s our reliable government. I don’t think this will be a good thing.
Speaking of government with less than two weeks to go before the mid-term elections in the not- so-united states of america, DJT is spouting more untruths about Canada and calling for us to become the 51st state. In case you’ve heard him the numbers he uses to describe the trade deficit are blatantly wrong – or let me put this another way. He’s lying!
Even today it is being reported about his threats against Bombardier who employs some 1600 Americans.
And can we talk about rising mortgage rates, rising prices, rude and crude comments towards the media, a war in Iran that the USA is losing, the Supreme Court that has been bought by MAGA, the pardoning of countless convicts, the lining of his pockets, his family and his friends, and the abdication of responsibility by The Congress, and the allegiance of this president to Putin.
Can we get past this and get back to adult like, honest, cooperative work to build some win-win agreements? Can we return to the current trade agreement that DJT sign in his first term? This has not been a good thing.
And some good – the citizens of Alberta soundly defeated the separation question and maybe now we can get on to building a stronger Canada. This is a good thing.
