Update from The Villa

It’s been a while, but let me tell what good things are happening. The need for new patio doors has been growing more urgent in my mind. While some maintenance was done three years ago it did nothing to really address the underlying issue. The doors are 35 years old and are not sufficient for this climate. Maybe Uxbridge, and that’s a maybe.

On, and we had it confirmed, our patio door is in backwards! Yup.

So we hare now decided as a board to order 12 new doors this year, and 11 next year. One of our owners jumped the gun and did his own installation. That has it’s own issues,, but I’ll skip that here. We are also giving the owners a choice of two French doors if they wish. The patio door we choose is a triple pain with a 25 year warranty – none of us will likely be around then!

And we are in the midst of cutting down four diseased trees and planting new ones – again, a benefit for the future. We need to protect our current investment, that’s true, but we also need to act for the future.

We have two units up for sale – but they are sitting there. Little movement. What’s going on with the market? Are they priced too high? Do they need too much work? I don’t think interest rates play as much a role in this market as in the larger market. Most people coming here already have been in the housing market for a while.

The deck is done!! Really done! For now…. I think it came out great and though I started this in June, it finally stopped raining (day after day) so I could get it stained. A look back at what it was…

This was shortly after wee moved in and we shortened the deck to make a garden and give egress to the basement bedroom.

This morning is coffee at the clubhouse, our weekly gathering. I’ve printed off the email that went out to the owners about the patio doors because there are a few here who do not have email, don’t use it, and couldn’t if they did (I think). Funny how some embraced new technology 35 years ago and how some ignored it.

Another day of retirement – gee, this feels good.
