Friday was a day without any obligations. Imagine that. A day, no agenda, no appointments, no required completion of tasks. It doesn’t happen often, though it will more in the weeks to come. So what would you do with that day? Stay in bed? Paint your bedroom? Would you get in the car and drive?
I know my sister would buy a coffee, have a book and sit on a chair on the beach somewhere…even if the snow is getting her pages wet. Weird.
The weather has cooled off for a few days, because it’s the long weekend in May, so we decided to do some visits around the city. Indoor visits. There are two quilt shops that Wendy wanted to explore so we put that on the list. Nugget needed his “nails done” so he came along…
After stopping in to get his nails trimmed we headed to St Albert. While Wendy shopped Nugget and I explored a nearby park.

I’m always surprised when someone sets up a business and then ignores their customers. This shop did not do that – they were very friendly, very engaging and helpful. This is how it’s done.
We grabbed some lunch and enjoyed being out and about!
The price of gas might be getting people to consider driving less, but we found a great price. Now this is really ridiculous to say this is a good price for gas, but if you’re going to attack Iran and start a war in the Middle East we’re all going to pay more for gas and everything else.

Now just for the record, this photo showed up in my memories. This was our first summer in Calgary – and it was July 22, 2000. The picture is rather grainy, but you can see Philip pushing the chair in for his mom, a perfect gentleman, with a good white shirt on and dress pants, he and Jason were charming. They even got the special bottle of sparkling water I had bought and put in on ice in the serving bowl. It was Wendy’s birthday and we had gone out for dinner – up the Calgary Tower, and then we came home to a special dessert I had ready. This is a really special memory for many reasons, but mostly because the boys were so good, so kind, so loving to their Mom.
