I really don’t know how many quilts Wendy has made. She has done different sizes, different techniques, different colours. I’ve got numerous photographs of her work and her working on them.
I love them all – no matter the size, but this one may be one “the one”. First of all the colours are amazing – gorgeous shades that really compliment. The topic fabric is cotton as usual, but the back is made of minky.
What is minky you ask? From the internet: “Minky (or Minkee) is a super soft variety of fleece fabric that is very warm. It is produced from 100% polyester fiber or microfiber and comes in many colors and textures. It was originally used for babies’ products because of its soft feel, which is warm yet lightweight.”
I didn’t know what it was called until Wendy introduced me to it, but I knew it be feel as we’ve given the grandkids things made from this. And my goodness it is soft!!
This quilt Wendy has declared she made for herself. And with retirement in mind – a lovely warm cover to curl up with on the couch.

The cornerstones, those squares in the corners, set off the quilt, which you can see is quite a good size.

And the back is minky… a solid colour and quite stunning in effect.

And finally the lovely top stitching sets off the whole quilt. It’s very beautiful – don’t you think?
