Upper Canada – 1st Parliament

We were in Niagara-on-the-Lake over the long weekend and I spied this concrete plaque on the side of the Parliament Oak School, so named for the event which took place here in 1793.  So I thought it would be interesting to see what I could find out about parliament in 1793 for Upper Canada.

It was the first parliament, 2nd session.

Upon visiting the Ontario Archives (on-line) they have the dates of this session as “1st Parliament, 2nd Session
31 May 1793 to 9 July 1793″

So here’s to my history loving friends.  Which is correct?  Has the Archives got it wrong or did the mason receive the incorrect dates?  Or is there another explanation.
