The promise of God

I was the guest at men’s camp this past weekend, and it was a delightful experience. The music was terrific, thanks to Chris Presley and the gang, and the food was delicious. That’s about all you need, plus some time golfing.

I had the most remarkable experience at the end of the Sunday service, which unfortunately I can’t go into much detail about because of the personal nature of the other person involved. Still, I can say that I was involved in his discipline over 10 years ago, and he approached me with tears in his eyes, asking to be reconciled. He had borne much hatred to me, but said, “You were only doing what you had to do”.

This happens rarely. If it happened more often, we would have emotionally healthier people, so I was so thrilled that it happened now, for his sake and that of his wife and family.

We enjoy our neighbourhood so much, and are so very grateful to Amanda and Philip for all they have done to help us land here safely and happily. You can never really “pay back” family for what they do, but I hope in the partnership we have as family, we contribute to their happiness as much as they do to ours. And so when I saw this rainbow, it reminded me again of God’s covenantal love and He is provision and blessing in our lives. Another good promise of God.

Lastly, a few pictures and captions, which just illustrate the many things that we find joyful additions in our lives.
