Then and now

This picture contains a thousand memories for me. I remember it was cold – very cold. I was standing on the shore of Frobisher Bay, at Apex, which is just outside of Iqaluit if you follow the Road to Nowhere – yes, that’s what is on the sign. Just up from the shore was the old Hudson Bay Outpost. I found it fascinating, old wooden and painted white it seemed recognizable from even a distance.

The city of Iqaluit is in the distance behind the boat, but it does not have many tall buildings. I have a few videos on my YouTube channel of Iqaluit—a unique place and the only place where the hotel room had a watch alert for polar bears in town.

I don’t suspect that I will ever return to this place, but I will soon be headed to Yellowknife which is the first leg of the flight to Iqaluit.

Speaking of then…here we are the summer of 2007. It was Matt’s 20th birthday and we were all at Pine Lake – most of us in our trailers. We strung the picnic tables together and had a meal…and YES that’s me with the camera taking a picture of, I assume, Rob taking our picture.

And now…for the now.

I thought this was a great idea that Wendy has implemented for organizing fabric. The fabric is wrapped around part of board (she bought at the dollar store and cut up) and pinned in place. Then by standing them next to each other she can see them more readily as they are in a bin and compare the shades of colour. It was an idea she saw on one of the YouTube channels she was watching.

Take note of the little guy in the middle…that’s the little boy we are considering bringing home when he’s around 10 weeks. Now what about a name. Here are some of the suggestions so far: Nugget, Eddie, Milo, Buddy, Fitz, and to remember our former Shih Tzu – JR!

Got a suggestion?

How about naming your dog ‘Jerry’ a wonderful dog I had growing up and he brought me so much joy he slept on the end of my bed each night
