I’ve had a yo-yo for years. How many? Well, I think, though my memory isn’t what it use to be, that I got my first yo-yo at 12 or 13. It was wooden. I think they were all wooden then, and it was green with some gold print on it.

I loved it. I learned some tricks, carried it to school, playing with it as I went. I had it around the school and if memory serves me, and I’m not sure it does as well these days, I had a couple of friends with a yo-yo. I wonder if they still have one?

About 10 years ago I was at an event and we got a number of “free promotional items” and what do you know, I got a yo-yo. It’s red and when you spin it, it lights up. It’s plastic and obviously not too expensive but I’ve kept it and from time to time I pull it out.

Recently, on a spur of the moment decision, I bought a new one – with bearings and everything. It’s pretty slick BUT it’s not wood and I would really like a wood one – maybe green with gold lettering.
