This city was home to us from 1995 to 2000. It was a beautiful city that we enjoyed, and it was evident that the culture of the city while related to it being the capital of Canada, was not dependent upon it. Music, parks, hockey, university life, health care and lovely streets with markets and unique neighbourhoods marked our experience.
So, to return to it from time to time as we visit Jason and our grandchildren, it was fun this time to also see a few of the older parts of the city. One street in particular caught our attention. It was incredibly narrow, and so were the houses.

As I was taking these photos, a lady emerged from the house with the yellow front wall. She wanted to know what I was doing? Why was I taking pictures she inquired.
I explained that we were in the city visiting family, that we used to live here, that my Grandfather was married here in 1930 and lived on Gladstone Ave (not that far from where we were standing). I also said I have a blog, and I write about where we’ve been and what we’ve done, even take pictures to post. I would have liked to have gotten her picture too but that would be a bit weird….!!!
We had an interesting conversation, she was from Nova Scotia and enjoyed the neighbourhood, but in these days people like me make people like her nervous, or so I took it. At any rate, she was quite pleasant, and we chatted for about 5 minutes before I headed off.

It was good to be in Ottawa again – and I suspect we’ll be back sooner than later.
