Small groups

Some of the best experiences in my faith journey have not come from large gatherings. It has mostly been in a smaller setting where I knew and trusted those who were with me on that journey. One of those was in my late teens, early twenties, with a group of friends around my age. We came from different corps (churches in The Salvation Army) and we lived across Toronto.

Lately, it’s been the group of men, my Barnabas brothers. We have been together now for seven years, so we really do know each other.

I had thought when we came to Edmonton that I would like to start a small group, even though I had thought about seeing if anyone in our neighbourhood wanted to join me. Life has been just a bit too busy.

So I was very happy when, before Christmas, I was approached to lead a small group as part of the programming for our corps. Disappointingly we are just getting around to “getting organized” but at least we are on the way. My group is apparently “full”… and so soon we’ll be organized for another few weeks of study together.
