We’ve been on the road. Visits to Cath and Terry, Wendy’s Dad (that was special), and Mom. It was nice to have brunch with Terry, Cath, Laura, and Noah! That was a great meal and a great visit. Of course, the reason for my going was business meetings, but what a delight to have Wendy come along and she was with me the whole time.
Having the PM and his cabinet at the hotel was really interesting. Media camped out, and we saw several teams reporting.

We flew Air Canada, and of course with the disruption they have been experiencing, I was uncertain if we should be making other arrangements but I suspected that the outage would not last. We didn’t, and all worked out fine.

I find airports fascinating. You never know who you will meet – or what you will see. I enjoy taking photos of the area, and when we were sitting in Toronto awaiting our flight to Edmonton, an A380 arrived and rolled into a gate across from us. You can see the upper and lower rows of windows. This is a massive plane! We boarded our much smaller plane and rolled out of the YYZ and off to Edmonton. Wendy had noticed a young mom with three kids boarding with their nanny. They all sat in first class. When we got to Edmonton, we discovered it was Zach Hyman’s family. That’s #18 on the Edmonton Oilers for those of you less familiar with our team. His current contract pays him $5.5M per year. So I guess he can afford first class.

And how nice is to be home!! Our own bed, our own washrooms, our own deck, our own space! Ahhhhh… And of course we missed Philip, Amanda and the kids. Nugget is settling back into our routine after spending time with Uncle Phil and Aunt Amanda. I suspect they are really missing him. But he’s not far away and he’ll be back.
