Welcome to 2025! A new year – a blank slate and a chance to be a better you, to be a better neighbour, to be a better citizen, to live with purpose that you’ve given more thought towards.

Many years ago, I thought about how Micah 6:8 spoke into my everyday living. I wanted to live with purpose and it seemed to me that I could impose my own purpose, but believing that God speaks into my world and my values and behaviour. Am I perfect at this – absolutely not, but taking Micah 6 as a way to measure my way seems to make sense.

So here again, is Micah 6:8 from The Message

But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
    what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
    be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
    take God seriously.

So happy new year and may the LORD bless you and strengthen you, may He bring you joy even in the midst of difficulty. May He give you guidance and wisdom for your journey. May He give you peace.
