Home, home on the range

It’s been an adventure. We have driven from Edmonton to Ottawa via the Canadian route, staying away from the shore of Lake Superior (that’s too slow for me) and then returning south of the Great Lakes, taking time to pause and enjoy a few places along the way. And it is a long long journey. In the end, with stops, visits, outings, detours and the like, we drove 9135 km over the past 2.5 weeks.

Last night we were in our own bed – ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

We saw lots of things – a car driven into a corn field, a dust cropping plane zipping across the highway in front of us, a gold mine, a coal mine, we drove through several tremendous downpours of rain, saw 14 C and 37 C in a matter of hours and bought a few things for us and others. I will give a bit more detail in the days to come. But here’s a few pictures.

One of the things that really struck me was the way in which the terrain changes so quickly – from the very flat prairie landscape to the rolling hills and dense forest of northern Ontario, and dense hills and valleys of Pennsylvania back onto the flat plains of the USA.

Now we’re home and catching our breath. It’s good to home on the range.
