We awoke this morning and the first thing I looked at was our front door weather station. I was of course looking at the temperature. It read minus 36 with 99% humidity. Brrr… Then we did something we have hardly ever done. We decided to stay home and watch the service online. After 40 years of “having to go” and being happy to do so I think, today we made a very different decision. And I didn’t feel guilty. Hmmmm.

My mind in this freezing cold went to some events that occurred five years ago. I remember at the time saying that in the years to come we look back on this year as being unique and wonderful. We had the rare opportunity to pair, almost back to back, a trip to Bermuda for business followed by a trip to California on vacation. Wow were we spoiled!

i must say, if we had the resources to do so I would probably spend more time in this kind of setting, especially in the coldest of days.

Bermuda is a wonderful land. Bermuda sits in a most unique spot well out in the Atlantic. We never went there without feeling like this would be a great place to live! And I am sure it is, but then it is expensive if you want to leave.

And then we were able to hop on another plane and head to California.

California in the winter can be very wet – very cool and towards the end of our time in this area it rained like mad! Even this year we are hearing again of flash floods and damaging winds.

But we had a lovely time in the dessert and visited a few great places to see and experience including the Living Dessert which is a combination zoo and botantical garden.
