When we were young

Here we are – The Heralds of Hope. The Salvation Army’s 1981 to 1983 session of cadets. That’s Wendy and I on the bottom right. Lots of stories that came out of the faces here. Sadly we lost 5 of our session to cancer.

But 35 years later we had a most interesting reunion! We met at a restaurant near the airport and I was delighted to see who came. With our retirement, only Lee, Wendy and Ann remain active out of our original number of 52.

And people brought lots of keepsakes to share. Here’s Lorraine and Janice with the session picture.

We have all aged but whether we see each other regularly or we only meet a few times over the years, we seem to have the ability to pick up where we left off.

I came across these pictures lately and I thought about all the experiences we shared along the way. We were naive about what would happen when we started, but then who knew how much would change in technology, culture, values and personnel.

So here we are – and notice the smiles!
