Our first home

When 22 year old Fred, asked 21 year old Wendy to love him for richer or poorer, better or worse, in sickness and in health….we’ll skip the until death due us part, part…. we moved into our first little apartment. Over the years we’ve had a series of addresses and have lived in Toronto, Listowel, Mississauga, Hamilton, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton.

But we’ve never owned our own home. Not until now.

That’s right people! The Waters are now homeowners. Well, us and the bank. We have an arrangement. But we have the key. Well, actually Philip has the key, and actually we’ve never been in the house. That’s right – we have relied upon the very wonderful Philip to be our eyes and ears.

So now we own the home which will be, we hope, our place for the next 20 or 25 years or perhaps more. We have bought in Edmonton, just a 7 minute drive from Phil and Amanda and the grandkids. We couldn’t be more thrilled.

And quite honestly we are overwhelmed with gratitude that the Lord has provided for us in such a way. Who are we, and who is our family, that God would so graciously provide for us? That’s how I have been feeling.

So thank you to Phil and Amanda for all their help, the photos, the connecting with the realtor, for doing extra work (in so many ways) to help us achieve this goal.

If you’re curious – this has everything on one level – two bedrooms and two bathrooms, laundry, kitchen, living room and a lovely big garage (my request not Wendy) as well as a small deck and a bit of garden for me to putter in.

So we will soon be packing up our things and heading west.

Happy trails to us…
