This summer has not been what we’ve expected. Some are throwing up their hands in frustration as it seems like everything is against us. The virus, the economy, the political and social unrest, and then there are those murder hornets…
But let me challenge you to think about this. When we entered the new year with its blank page, its new page, its opportunity to write our own script, most of us were in the midst of schedules packed with commuting, trying to balance seemingly scant hours to put in travel, work, commuting, and for some child care and a host of other demands. Here we are in the 8th month and I just know some will be happy to see the year end, but for me, for us, this year has born a most unexpected gift. The gift of time wrapped in the pause of the ordinary hustle and bustle of life has landed in our laps!
So after 8 months I’m saying I am enjoying this summer – even having the opportunity to work outdoors, eat lunch on the patio and build new connection with our neighbours.
A couple of weeks ago I was able to share with our friends next door how God has led us through the years and in ways in which He accomplished what we could not. They were fascinated by my story and warmly welcomed it. Yesterday he suggested we should go golfing together so I’m going to see if I can do that.
None of this would have been possible without the gift of 2020.
God is at work in our world – what do you see Him doing around you?
