What does tolerance mean?

The whole issue of tolerance in Canada today seems to have been skewed.  Tolerance doesn’t mean we agree, or that our opinions are equal, but it does mean I don’t denigrate you because we disagree.  Unfortunately in politics and in social debate making the other person out to be evil and suspect is the new standard of debate.

When it comes to the very delicate issue of rights – I think that this interview of Rick Warren by Piers Morgan is one of the better exchanges and I’m pleased to say is done with sensitivity and respect.  I would pray that all our debates might be like this.
