When I was 18 I joined a group of young adults who spent each Friday night on Yonge St in downtown Toronto. We would meet about 9 pm for prayer, pick up some tracts, get a briefing as to the state of the street and then head out in pairs.
We weren’t effective but we were sincere. So is being sincere enough? Is that the same as being zealous? We wanted to share our faith but we were trying to do so with no relationships in place – we were just annoying people on the sidewalk interrupting people out for an evening walk. I was never aware of anyone coming to faith due to our efforts.
I’ve learned since then that ministry takes place through relationship.
It has to.
Even God understood that – He sent His Son – Jesus.
