I really love mornings. I don’t know what it is, but come 6 am I just cannot stay in bed much longer. I am most often ready to get up, get the coffee made and take Nugget for a walk. And some mornings of course, are better for the latter than others.
But even on those not-so-nice days, getting up and going just feels good. It feels good to be on my feet, to open the blinds, to know another day has arrived. And I will turn to my reading for the day. Another reminder that God’s mercies are new every morning.
Saturday morning I was up extra early – and around 4:50 am I stepped outside the birds were singing and the sky had a wonderful orange glow from the rising sun. This time of year our daylight is very long. So I grabbed my phone and just recorded a couple of minutes of it.
Here’s my reading for the day….John 21, where Jesus meets the disciples early in the morning on the shores of Lake Galilee, and after attempting to fish, they see Jesus on the shoreline, and he has breakfast cooking, and he invites them to join him. Can you smell the water, here it lapping at the boat, and sense just how hungry the disciples would have been?
I think Jesus loved mornings and an early breakfast too.
