Update from the Villa

on

The pickup trucks are out front of “Steve’s house.” Renovations are underway, and I’ve seen at least one interior door removed. We are told that our new resident suffers from MS so I believe they are making the home as accommodating as possible. Slowly, our neighbourhood is changing, and one by one, folks who moved here years ago are passing away.

I really love the community and the care for each other that I see regularly. Several folks have expressed concerns about Nugget because of the coyotes, who also seem to want to make this part of the neighbourhood their home.

We were leaving yesterday to go to family supper when this pair showed up at the end of our road. Paige wanted to drive closer…though she was a bit worried…and so we drove down to see them headed off into the nearby woodlot.

And then we had supper….and we were in charge of dessert.

Those are fresh strawberries from Mexico…yes, Mexico. And yes, I’m still avoiding products coming from the USA. Am I making a difference? Maybe not, but I think if enough of us do this, we can send a message south that economic threats to Canada are not met with passive compliance.

And yesterday was Mom’s 92nd birthday. I wish we could have been with her to celebrate this remarkable milestone, but glad that Cath, Terry, and Noah were there!
