It is not lost on Philip, even Amanda, that the life that Nugget lives is far superior to that which JR lived. Now to be fair, this is probably true of most children. The resources that their parents had at the time the first child was born are perhaps much less than they had with the later children. So yes, Nugget is enjoying a life more enjoyable than JR had, though JR did do more camping with us.

January 21 marks the birth of Nugget, who is now 1 year old… yes, Cath in his second year…will there be a card?

He’s a good dog, been a wonderful little puppy for us. He enjoys our company as we do his. He has learned to follow us, come when called (most of the time), and to sleep in his own bed.

He has not enjoyed his first winter and was clearly perplexed by the disappearance of grass. But he loved the snow initially when it was still somewhat warm, and the snow was light and fluffy.

I often wonder if Nugget has any memory of his siblings or ever wondered, especially early on, where his Mom went. But he’s one of our family now, and even this week is spending some time with Uncle Phil and Aunt Amanda!

So happy birthday to Nugget who joined us on Good Friday afternoon and has filled us with much joy and love.
