Listen to NATO

NATO Chief Rutle spoke to the EU lately. In his address, highlighting the danger of Russia under President Putin, he warned them and challenged them to make their security a priority now. It certainly seems that he is pointing out what most of us would fear – an aggressor in Europe! Unlike previous large-scale wars, a war in this age of technology will never be restricted because an ocean separates the contenders. We know that.

Russia is currently losing people at an alarming rate. 1200 troops die or are wounded, removing them from the theatre of war every day. Read that again – every day! In the last year, that’s 1.2 million troops. The economy of Russia is in ruins, with inflation running rampant. And yet Putin continues his push to expand his footprint. Their industry production is now almost completely attuned to weaponry. They built 46,000 missiles in 2025, and that number is increasing.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, the USA administration, led by its convicted felon, is focused on fishing boats, US citizens, and the media. The incompetence of this administration is stunning, but what is more difficult to believe is the open corruption.

But Canada is moving on, building partnerships with other dependable and stable nations. We’re cancelling the F35 contract with the US and buying Gripen jets from Sweden (Saab). No need to deal with a country whose leader can wake up in a bad mood one morning and throw more chaos at the economy. And there’s more – we are moving away, and this will be good for our country.

It is true, we have been lazy laying beside this economic and military giant. We were too reliant on them and that reliance has put us at risk. We thought we had a friendly nation next door – and we’ve awoken to an administration that has deliberately put our economy at risk, has spoken about us being the 51st state and has acted towards our adversaries like they were allies.

And so we move on….
