What a great weekend we had, leaving early Friday morning and heading to Canmore, then on to Banff. In fact, can I go far enough to say this was one of the best weekends away we’ve had in a long time? Maybe it felt so good because it was so overdue. Maybe it was because we planned this rather late, and so it felt like something rather spontaneous. Imagine us, spontaneous?

The weather really cooperated – it was 10 degrees going through Calgary and 8 in Canmore on Friday! Even Banff stayed at a balmy 6.
The sidewalks were calm, though lots of tourists still in the stores speaking a multitude of languages! The restaurants were busy but not crowded. This is a great season to go to the mountains.
A few photos from our time around Bow Falls, which I always love to visit. Unfortunately, the gate was closed going towards the golf course so we couldn’t go further.

We stayed at the Lady MacDonald Inn – which needs some help from Phil to get it back to what it was, a very classy Inn. The great outdoors is great in this part of the world. I do wish we could at least see the mountains from Edmonton.

Notice the guy with his camera and tripod? And notice no snow!! There is snow in the mountains of course but the economy counts on lots more snow. And behold, today, while we are home and warm, the snow will be flowing strongly. Get your boots out.
