He’s passed the eight-month mark and is well on his way to full-grown, and he weighed in today at the vets at 6.6 lbs. His teeth are good, and he is full of energy. He really loves other dogs, though we are learning that they don’t always love us. Dogs are like people – some are just grumpy, some don’t like babies, some are aggressive, some are just waiting to make another friend.

I see some of the energy and puppy-ness diminishing as he grows and ages. I mean, he is still a puppy, and I know he’s small. We enjoy his company, and he brings lots of joy to the family.

We have a neighbour who through the good weather sits outside her front door on her white chair. She has a bowl of water for the dogs in the neighbourhood. The other day, as the pictures above show Nugget wouldn’t walk past her place even though she wasn’t outside. He could see the main door was open and he could see into the house. I let go of the leash and he ran up to the door and looked in the glass. The next thing I knew Dianne opened the door and he ran in.
We ended up visiting for a bit, and then, and only then, did Nugget make his way home happily.
I keep thinking we should have a second puppy. What do you think?
