While my last name is Waters, and I have great pride in that name and our heritage I’ve always been aware that there is a great deal of the Eastland genes running through my body. Chicken ankles, tall (though not as tall as some Eastlands), and of cours,e the thin body topped by the very aerodynamic bald head. Yup – and then there’s the tilt towards taking risk, the love of the outdoors, and curiosity around all things Niagara Falls.

What I didn’t know was that there was one more Eastland out there. We’ve recently learned of Randy – though not named Eastland in life, he is certainly labelled Eastland in genes. Catherine had a chance to meet up with him and his wife, Theresa. Two hours of conversation and swapping pictures, and some stories. One da,y my hope is that Randy and Theresa will meet the other Eastlands. Currently, it appears that we may need to wait for a while.

The Eastland family have long been part of Niagara Falls. Some are gone now, but there the roots remain. But I think there is more to learn from each other.
