Today is Wendy’s birthday. We met when we were 20 and were both trying to get started in the world, working jobs that didn’t pay all that much. Wendy still lived at home and I was boarding with friends. To say we were living on a shoestring is not an exaggeration. We dated for 6 months, were engaged 6 months, and then married in February of 1979. We were young but in love and we worked through the early years of adjustment and learned how to love and support each other.
Here we are all these years later doing what we said in those early days we would do – grow old together. Not everyone gets to do that so we don’t take it for granted.
Celebrating Wendy is easy. She’s smart, creative, caring and loyal. She knows all my foibles and yet loves me deeply. We have lived in 12 apartments/houses. We have travelled the whole country and most of the USA. We’ve raised two boys and now enjoy our grandclildren.
Wendy loves chocolate, tea, a good movie, a well written book. She likes her feet being rubbed while relaxing on the couch. She likes exploring small towns. She likes travelling but also just being home in our lovely place.
Today we will celebrate another birthday and I will thank the LORD for such a wonderful partner.
