The puppy is home after his surgery yesterday. He had a bit of a tough night, which of course meant we had a bit of a tough night. We were up at 3 am as he seemed uncomfortable and restless. A little outdoor walk to get some relief, and then a little love and care, and we were asleep before 4.
The vet who did the surgery told us that he had lost all his baby teeth but 2 – so they pulled those out while they had him under. They did the castration and the repair to the hernia. The surgery looks tidy and clean. So, he takes some medication each morning at breakfast.
The vet also told us that Nugget is likely not going to grow much more, that by this age, they are usually as big as they are going to get. He weighs in at just over 5 lbs, so that is very small! JR was 8.5 lbs, and he was small enough. Looks like we will have a very small dog – and the smaller the dog, the longer the age expectation.
The night before his surgery, we gave his a bath, haircut, and a real good brushing. He looked great.
