It’s been some time since Wendy and I took a trip out of town for the simple pleasure of the travel, being away from home and seeing friends. It isn’t that we don’t like Edmonton or being home because we really love our place, love our little community, love our lives. We are very content.
So we headed towards Revelstoke, enjoying the drive and stopping along the way a few times to enjoy the scenery and give Nugget a break. He travelled really well and was a delight to have along. He does not appear to have minded the travel. And of course the scenery was gorgeous.

Revelstoke is a mountain town – a ski town of sorts but also an important town for the railway and for lumber. As we drove about the town it appeared that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. It’s an issue for the development of a town where housing is short and industry is limited.
We stayed at the Coast Hotel, which is located out of town, overlooking the valley. They are extremely dog-friendly, and there were several dogs and their owners staying at the hotel. And what a gorgeous hotel too.
