We have a new Prime Minister, Mark Carney. No need to outline his personal accomplishments here – that’s pretty clear and in the public record. I am of the opinion, and you may not believe this, that new leadership of an established organization can change the tone, culture and direction of the organization. Thus, this is not a renewal of the Trudeau liberals. And now the cabinet are in and the real work begins.
I was encouraged to hear the PM talk about returning to cabinet governance for too many of our recent PM’s have acted like they were in a presidential office, not a parliamentary one. So let’s see what happens – but it’s an interesting team. Oh, and by the way should you think I’m a long time liberal voter – this is the first time I ever voted liberal. I just like in a blue province!
As I was in Ottawa and near the Byward Market, which sits in the shadow of Parliament Hill, it was interesting to find the freshly printed book by Mark Carney “Values”. Also nearby, two other books that seemed to be in great contrast to Carney’s book

On to the world stage has come another leader. Pope Leo XIV – an American Cardinal. The conclave knew what they were doing – like they did during the days of Russia’s bad behaviour, they chose a Polish Pope. Now with the USA’s bad behaviour they elect someone who can stand in full view of the world and offer a picture of acceptance, care for the poor, rejection of personal gain and compassion to the weak and destitute. This man’s election is a rebuke of what we all witness to the south of Canada.

So we should pray for those who rule over us that they would serve us well and follow the way of the Kingdom of God.
