Signs of spring

on

Much to my amazement this week I went to check the garden and found quite a few of our bulbs had pushed their way through the cold soil to signal that spring is indeed on the way! A smile broke out on my face and I heard myself say out loud – wow, will you look at that. We had just had a couple of days of snow and everything was covered, but as the snow melted off, here were these plants!

It’s like hope is breathed into the air and we begin to forget about the dark and cold days of winter as we imagine the soon to come warm days and going without boots, mitts, coats, and all the rest of our protective gear.

Inside the plants are doing well.

Just three types of tomatoes this year and some of them will go to Philip and Amanda’s garden. Ah, the sign of new growth! How lovely. I think the rest of my seeds get sowed directly into the spring soil when we are free of frost.

This morning, I attended the Edmonton Prayer Breakfast. It was a good experience and well attended. I enjoyed meeting the deputy mayor again, and we had a good table!
