I was very excited about learning to drive. But not as excited as my Dad was!
The day after I was old enough to get my license, he put me in the car and took me to the testing location to get my license. I still remember that day and how he was smiling! Within a day or two he had a key chain and my own key to the car. I still have it!

It was a milestone and a rite of passage. And I think my Dad was as thrilled as could be!
But one day, out driving, by myself I got into a car accident. Not a bad one, but I knew that my folks didn’t have much money and I knew I had none! Getting out of the car and seeing the dents – and knowing this would be a big deal. I was really worried. I thought my Dad would never let me have the car again. So in a few days, when he asked if I wanted to use the car for the youth group gathering on the upcoming Saturday I was shocked.
I never felt so trusted – and forgiven.
I was thinking about life lessons – this was just one given me as a gift in my youth.
What is one life lesson that you were given as a gift?
