Well it really is the day before Christmas. And of course that means someone special has a birthday today!
So I’ll keep it short.
I couldn’t be more grateful for the way the LORD has blessed us. We had friends over for supper last night – in our house, around our table, with laughter and joy for many years of friendship. We talked about where we’ve landed in retirement, how our health is; and so far we have been healthy. We talked about the weight some of our friends are carrying who have lost a spouse early, or for a few who have just lost an adult child.
We reminded each other that we often don’t know what the other is working through or the heavy load being carried. This is all the more reason to be understanding, gracious, and gentle.
In the days of celebration to follow, we remember those who will celebrate with joy and a burden on their hearts and minds.
