I had the opportunity to visit the Winnipeg Centre of Hope for their community meal this week. They don’t just feed “our people”, they were also sending meals to three other providers that night, so in all total they made some 1500 meals. Their chef is quite an amazing man, and apart from being a great lead for their kitchen, he has a real heart for these people. Working in a building that houses people with addictions, mental health challenges and a myriad of other issues, is not easy. But this team is patient, kind, yet disciplined.
My part? To encourage, lead a devotional, help in serving, getting to watch the team execute an enormously challenging evening, and to share our thanks to them.

Many municipal leaders, including the mayor of Winnipeg, came to help. While they served, there were no TV cameras covering their activities, so you come to believe that they did this because they wanted to, not because of some political advantage.
And, thank you West Jet, you got me home with just a minor delay!
