The trees are looking bare, leaves are covering the ground and the earth prepares for another winter season. The years roll along and I suddenly think, this will be my 68th winter…and my first was in Alberta! The sun is setting earlier and earlier and we awaken now to darkness!
This week the arborist was around to complete his work as the sap has now stopped flowing.

Being from Ontario, I am used to seeing large maple and oak trees resplendent in their orange, red and gold. Maples and Oaks are rather more scarce here. I don’t see them often – though they are here. Of course, there are many kinds of maples and we do have some smaller versions. But the trees are not as large on the very dry prairie.

It is mostly quiet these days…even the squirrels are telling us it is time to get ready for a changing season!
