The colours of autumn

This week we were at Pine Lake Camp for a couple of days in response to an invitation from the division as they look at the strategic direction of TSA in this part of Canada. It was interesting to be back at the camp – a place we spent a great deal of time at in the past.

There are not many lakes in Alberta, so the few that are around do tend to attract folks who like being on the water, fishing, boating, etc. The lake level was low, and the colour of the landscape is clearly signaling that we are into autumn.

Did I tell you I was looking at boat motors? I went and looked at 10 hp outboards…with the thought of trying to figure out what it would cost to buy/own a boat. I did discover that the cost difference between a 10 and 20 hp outboard is minimal. Nothing bought or seriously considered just yet.

I went for a walk into the trees – not sure I can call the woods as I remember it up at the cottage, this is a different feel – no big maple or oak trees – maybe that’s the difference. But it reminded me of a large photo I use to have on the wall – not sure where it went – but I took a picture this week that reminded me of that photo.

The white bark really stood out to me so I put into a black and white expression! What would we do without trees? They are refreshing to walk amongst and beautiful to look at.

We have some friends who live on a lake edge – our friend Paul, and our friends Rick and Alison. Both left behind the big city to step outside the concrete city and who could blame them. We do have friends, Dave and Noelle who live on a lake within the city of Calgary. The front yard feels like suburbia and the backyard feels like a rural setting. All are fortunate to be able to have this lifestyle.

No matter where you live though, I hope you are enjoying the changes of this time of year.
