The garden speaks

Wendy and I spent some time yesterday in the garden. The plants are telling us that the end of the season is coming so we were doing some work. We still have turnips and carrots in the ground – they can stay for a while. We were picking the last of the apples and I did pull out some carrots.

Once again this year our impatients grew like crazy on the edge of the deck! They seem to love the shade of the apple tree and make for a lovely border. When we arrived this was all dirt – mud! The grass was gone and there was no garden. Over time things are doing well. I’ve been thinking of pulling out the side garden to make it deeper! The border is concrete…who did that?…. and it would take some work. Maybe next year. We will see.

And of course the kids are back to school – love to see them so excited about learning and their teachers! Now the big news…drum roll please…

Carlyle has been asked to help with the tech work at church…and wow is she excited! Fitz decided suddenly he would like to learn to play an instrument. The first week he came home with a mouth piece buzzing away! Next week the cornet comes home! That will be fun.

Jason sent these pictures of the girls with their new hair cuts… have I told you about his summer? And all the things happening there? For the next blog post – stay tuned.
