Since returning from Toronto, I have not been feeling all that well. So I’m a bit behind in my updates. I can report though that my introduction and meetings with social mission were well done and accomplished a great deal. Part of one day was a team-building exercise in a place called Dave and Busters. Never heard of them before…but apparently they are all through the USA and have two locations now in Toronto.
With the use of technology, some good team “bling” and a good facilitator we found ourselves getting to know each other and seeing another side of some! This was a great investment of time and money.

For a change our meetings were at the Pan Pacific – an older hotel with some maintenance issues…it feels like all the elevators in this older hotels are unreliable. I took the stairs a number of times.

The meals however were excellent – and after all if the food is good everyone will put up with other annoyances. Any conference organizer knows that. Of course being this close to Mom I got to pop over to Ajax, home of Ajax High – Wendy’s high school – and had a visit and meal. It’s just as she described, a lovely senior’s complex with some very high end finishes and excellent food services.

That is a seafood crepe on my plate and yes it was delicious! Their own theatre room, golf simulator, library, cafe…it seems to go on and on. #notthemeighen
One of the perks of this job is working with Jennifer. She was a young officer in our congregation when we were in Calgary 20 years ago. She has married, has two girls, and is one of the smartest and organized ladies I know and it is a delight to work for her and with her. Her daughter Lucy, is a good friend of our granddaugher Carlyle and when I arrived for our meetings on Thursday I received a “letter” for Carlyle from Lucy. When I gave it to Carlyle she immediately opened it and read it several times. I suspect there’s a reply on it’s way even now.

On my last evening – meetings done, I was able to have supper with Terry. I don’t have a brother as a sibling, but I consider Terry my brother. He’s more than a brother-in-law, he has been kind, generous, loving, caring, compassionate, interested… I could go on. AND – loyal! Thank you Terry for being who you are.
Well that’s it for the most part….hope you are all well, your families are safe and that you are enjoying, as we are, the blessings of God.
