River ride

If there is one consistent fact about Alberta, we have few lakes compared to other provinces. But Alberta does have some good rivers, in fact, rivers sustain this province, give us irrigation and drinking water bringing the melting glaciers to us. So the other fact is that most lakes and rivers in Alberta are not warm.

Yesterday we were on a very pleasant river – the Pembina river, in the Pembina River Provincial Park campground. The water is shallow and it was quite pleasant. But wow the current was sure strong and fast.

The river rocks are round and smooth and I thought how nice many would look at home in and about our garden! I brought our inflatable rings and took the kids floating down the river – they loved “the rapids”! We had a blast.

Summer is quickly coming to an end, but yesterday it seemed like mid July – it was warm and wonderful. It is such a great thing to be a grandpa!
