A wonderful visit

on

The Eagle has landed, that’s what I was thinking of posting on Facebook a week ago, as Mom and Cath landed in Edmonton to spend a week with us. And suddenly the week is over and they are on their way home. They left blue skies and a temperature in the mid 30’s to return to the remnant of Beryl barreling over the Great Lakes. While they were here our temperatures soared and paired with the blue skies gave us lots of warmth!

I think in many ways I always thought of myself as “from Ontario” when the subject arose. Many of my growing up years were there, it is where I met Wendy and where we married and started our life together. Both our boys were born in Ontario. But Ontario is not so welcoming a place any more with people pressing to live closer and closer to each other and the price of living there getting out of reach for many.

Thus our second home. I was born in Alberta and we had three appointments in Alberta. And here the cost of living, in our own home, is reasonable.

So at age 90 Mom finds herself landing in Edmonton to visit us. And how thrilled we were that Cath was able to come with her. She’s Cathy to most but to me she’ll always be Catherine. My youngest sister, she has been a wonderful help to Mom especially with our relocation to Edmonton.

We had a busy week with visits to Philip and Amanda, Elk Island National Park, a bit of shopping, a visit to a couple of small towns and enjoying just being together.

I’m worried about Terry of course, and how is Cath going to break the news to him that they are going to sell their house and move to Alberta!!? We’ll have to wait and see how that turns out!

It’s been a great deal of fun being together and wonderful to have them here – in Alberta!

And it was great to be with you and the family, thanks for looking after us so well during the week, I am blessed to be able to do this and grateful for Catherine who has looked after me so well, yes at 90 years old I have pretty good health and am still able to be independent for which I praise the Lord
