It’s time for an update – news from The Villa. Hold your applause please. It’s been a highlight of the year this past week as we had our “longest day”, the longest amount of daylight and here, well it is really long. Sunrise was at 5:07 am and sunset at 10:07 pm though, it is light before and after those times as the sun brings it’s rays to bear on the atmosphere above us. Open your eyes at 4 am and it’s starting to get light!

This little guy was roaming around and decided to watch us from atop Jean-Eve’s tire. An odd place to watch I thought. But he stayed there for quite a bit. Our squirrel, that is the one who has given us so much entertainment in the apple tree seems to be gone. No squirrel around this year.

Our Iris’s were opening this week and once again they are beautiful, but they are a bit different in colour But they are gorgeous and I love how big they are and how they look and feel like velvet. In other news the gazebo is up and we’re beginning to enjoy the shade under the afternoon sun. Tonight we had supper out there and it was lovely – mind you it was 26C and we’ve not had many days that warm yet, so that was lovely. We hope to have many enjoyable moments under the canopy.

Quilt Canada had it’s annual show in Edmonton this year. Last year was Halifax! I went with Wendy to spend some time together – I really enjoy being able to take in a special event together! We missed so many of those opportunities when we were working.
The artwork of the quilts is amazing! There were many winners for various categories and I took many photos of the unique handiwork. Incredible skill.

Look at the eye of the lion – or the birds in the tree with the various flowers. This one below, though really caught my eye. At first it appears pretty plain, but then you note the birds, the tree and the shadow of a person “bird watching” with binoculars. Very creative!

Finally, as we come towards the end of June, we are looking forward to the visit of Mom and Catherine – stay tuned for details – and I will end my 3 day a week job in public relations! Yeah, that’s not for me!
