I like John Grisham’s books – in fact I’ve got one out of the library now. In this one, and in others, he takes a great deal of time to give a detailed description of the town square with the court house in the center. I’ve imagined what this might look like until our trip to Branson.
We were getting close and stumbled across the town of Clinton Missouri. Now this isn’t Alabama or Louisiana but it sure looks like it came out of a Grisham novel. I was really struck by how the town square seemed to step out of a Grisham novel.
We were hungry had driven many hours that day and looking for something different for dinner. Wendy saw a sign for a Mexican restaurant and we went exploring – it turned out to be a bit off the highway in the town square of Clinton Missouri.

The food and service were excellent – we really enjoyed the meal and got to know something of the family’s story. Travel and exploring can be so rewarding.
On to the courthouse and town square. The square is huge and the courthouse quite modern and ornate.

Something was happening on the other side of the square and there were lots of cars….

Now back to the dinner – I wish I had taken a picture of our meals – they were SO good and we loved every bite. And then we ordered dessert!

We love to explore new places and while we were only here for a short time it was one of those magic places that we are so glad we stumbled upon. We told the manager that their sign by the highway had brought us in – a nod to Terry O’Reilly and his show on marketing. Yup, advertising works.
