This afternoon Paige asked if I might push her on the swing. We were at the park as Fitz celebrated his birthday with his friends. He was busy kicking the soccer ball and playing with his friends. Paige went to the swings. She informed me that she is growing up and isn’t a little kid anymore – she wanted to go high! “Higher Grandpa”.
As she swung back and forth I asked her if she would let me push her on the swing when she is eight, then nine, then ten, then fifteen. She was good with me pushing her until we got to fifteen. Nope, at that point she would not need pushing.
Then she started to tell me that when she grew up she would have just one child, and that she would live in Calgary.

“In Calgary?” I responded.
“Yes, in Calgary. I’m going to live with Papa and Grams. I’m going to sleep on the top bunk.” she told me. She didn’t mention where her child would sleep but I assume the bottom bunk.
“Will you come to visit us in Edmonton?” I asked.
” Oh yes I will come to see you several times, and we can do video chats and talk on the phone.”
“That will be nice.” I replied.
“Yes, when I am grown up I am going to watch my shows, read books and sit around drinking coffee.” she informed me with the tone of a teenager!
“And live in Calgary?”
“Yes, but I will come to Edmonton to visit with Fitz and Carlyle”.
“And Grandma and Grandpa?”
“Oh, yes.”
I laughed. She immediately asked “why are you laughing?”
“Because you make me smile so much.”
