News from The Villa

The AGM has been held, that is the annual general meeting, of the corporation and a new board is in place. I am happy to report that a new member was added to the board. As a new resident, it is good news to have him as part of the planning and development. It is a sign of the ongoing regentrification of The Villa.

There are five people on the board and I will take the role of president for the coming year. I am not unhappy about that and look forward to achieving some good things for the community over the past year. Our outgoing president has held the post for several years and it is good for her to get a break. She’s done well.

Of course, spring has brought the rebirth of the garden and I was glad to see the bulbs pushing through the warming earth. And with the new signs of growth comes the hope that the cold weather and snow are over. But alas, not yet.

This was the view this morning – but even as the sun broke the horizon the snow was melting away fast! This is spring on the prairies.

We had a visitor to The Villa this week – a very good-sized coyote was walking through. I hope he was looking for our herd of hares which dig in our lawns. I did whistle when I saw him at the end of our driveway but he headed away… a good sign really showing he does fear humans.

All in all, not a block buster update but keep your eyes on the coyote!
