The grief of God

One of my favourite pictures depicting Jesus looking out of the city of Jerusalem. He is sorrowful for the fate of its citizens and their rejection of God’s love and provision.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate. For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, ‘Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’- Matthew 23:37,38

On this weekend – the high holy mark on the Christian calendar calls us to heed the words of Jesus or we too may find ourselves being warned…. sorrow will be ours. The offering of Jesus – believe in me and follow me and you will find peace, forgiveness and joy.!

This is a weekend for deep reflection on who we are and who we are following!
