Winter finally arrives

It was a snowy day here in Edmonton – something that should not be a surprise but we’ve had such mild temperatures and so little moisture (rain or snow) that many people were talking today about how great it is to have snow. Alberta is suffering from a significant drought. We need moisture!

All that being said I think I was glad to see the snow. The cold, the cold we are getting, I could do without.

I had the joy of recording a radio spot for The Salvation Army today – a thank you to the public which will air in the coming days. The crew at the radio station were great and being in the booth with headphones and a boom mic brought back memories of the radio spots I did monthly when we were in Listowel. I’ve had a number of experiences with recording for the media.

I wrote columns for the Calgary Sun, and did a series of early morning devotional thoughts for CTV when we first went to Calgary. I was on TV in Nova Scotia years ago for a brief interview. So I’ve had some experience in these things. What has changed is the technology!

Have I mentioned how much I love sitting with our grandchildren on Sunday mornings? I was asked if I was going to join the band… my response was “not while my grandchildren are happy to sit with grandpa in church!”. These are precious days.

Wendy has a bag that she brings on Sunday mornings – it has a couple snacks in it and some small notebooks, pens, pencils, and crayons. As soon as the kids arrive they set to finding their things and their snacks! It is lovely to see.

I posted to Facebook today a link from this post: https://fredwaters.ca/2012/03/14/dont-let-your-neighbours-ox-stray/ which is a post as you can see from 2012. I’ve been asked to do a Bible Study for men starting in February for 6 weeks and I am looking for ideas and materials – I think I will really enjoy doing this!

May the LORD bless your day!
