Accordions and interviews

So here’s a deal….

My good friend Floyd is an accordion player. Not that I have seen him with one in a while but I know he plays – the truth is that his wife sold it when he was away once so it is gone…but none the less I do send him a picture once in a while to make fun of this fact. I sent him recently and he immediately wrote back that this was unfair to large families. Perhaps it is.

My Mom played an accordion for many years so I suppose I should be careful!

Amanda came in the door yesterday and declared – I could really use a coffee! I love to know that we have in what our kids like to eat or drink when they are over. Vanilla Oreos for Phil, coffee for Amanda. She was a bit taken back at the date on the cream…and I always have cream in, 18% thank you, for coffee. She grabbed the cream – not sure she used it but noted that it was past its date. I however prefer the nose test because sometimes cream doesn’t make it to the best before date and sometimes it last longer.

But yes we were a little beyond the date…some time in November? Couldn’t be… oh, it is.

So how’s this Amanda? Will you come back for another coffee now?

Many of you know that I have taken a part time job. For three days a week I am the PR officer for The Salvation Army in Edmonton, including Red Deer to Yellowknife. I’m not always sure this is doable in three days but I’m doing my best. This week were numerous media interviews – CTV, CBC, Radio Canada, Edmonton Journal the Global. Whew.

This is an area that I’m not entirely comfortable with but I’m finding my feet and in time maybe I will do well. Here’s the gal from CTV lining up an interview at our toy distribution centre.

And finally in kitchen news the floor is going in and should be complete this week. It looks lovely and we’re SO grateful to Phil for all his love and skill given to us to make this house our home.

Kick plates, handles, pendant light, accent wall paint are still to come but you can see the beauty of it better now. A full reveal will come!

Yes I played that accordion for many years and especially at this time of year I remember all the times I had to play Carols in Nursing Homes, Hospitals and other places it was needed and enjoyed
