The Christmas season is upon us, and apart from toys, kettles, and volunteers is music. I mean what would Christmas be without music. Silent Night is a lovely poem but it’s the music that makes it memorable.
Saturday evening was Christmas with The Salvation Army in Edmonton. The band and songsters had been preparing and the surprise of the evening were our MCs.They were great and helped make the evening a success. The cost to enter the evening concert was a new, unwrapped toy.
There were many highlights in the evening but this piece was my favourite of the night.
I have become more appreciative of choral music over the years. While the brass band is lovely and produces wonderful sounds, unless you have a working knowledge of the lyrics it is only harmonies.
