Robots, Pi, and Crafts

The robots are taking all the jobs – well not quite, but isn’t it amazing what stores are doing to use new technology (this isn’t that new) to do jobs around the store. I can’t imagine how hard it is to hire cleaners these days…but then it was a job for someone. Self-check out, self-serve, seems to be the new level of customer service. So far though I am glad I don’t have to make my own coffee at Starbucks.

This is a peach pie – one of my favourtie pies and one that I look for anytime I’m in the store. But do you know the difference between this and a Raspberry Pi?

I confess I am coming to this party rather late. These have been around for a while and Phil was an early adopter. This small thing is super powerful and you can add a monitor, keyboard, mouse, headphones, etc. Carlyle will be using this as she learns to program. I find it quite fascinating.

In other news Wendy and I were off to a craft show today. Now you might be thinking of knitted mitts and scented candles. This isn’t your average church bazaar. The craftsmanship there was quite amazing. Woodworkers, metal workers, leather workers… etc. I found it to be a good experience and had I a couple of thousand dollars to play with I might have come home with some neat things.

On the family front, Jason was on a business trip to PEI this week which means he has not been to all ten provinces. He seems to be really enjoying his work. In the meantime, Celine is on a cruise with a friend. Lucky gal!!
