Mountains

For 7 years Phil and Amanda lived in Canmore which meant we were regularly in the town which sits under the Three Sisters pictured above with the moon. We enjoyed the town and of course being “in” the mountains. As I was looking at some pictures recently I decided to see which pictures of mountains are in my files that I really like.

This one from the shore near Campbell River on Vancouver Island gives the mountains a whole other look as it places in contrast with the closer logs washed up on the shore (yes there are beach combers) and the setting sun giving the mountain range a purple haze. This is such a common sight on the west coast.

And then there’s the perspective when you’re on top looking down! Here’s Phil with me – I think the last time he and I climbed a mountain. This was a small one as we didn’t start up until after supper. We arrived back at the car in the dark with our headlamps showing the way. There is something quite breathtaking when you’re up there looking down. You really get a sense of the magnitude of the mountain ranges!

And finally, a view when everything is covered with snow! It is one of the great things about being in the West, this sense of being near the mountains. The Great Lakes may be large and impressive, but the mountains are mesmerizing.
